Review of Forward Assist Device
ordered from
DANO's Quality Parts

"Forward Assist Device" can be very difficult to acquire. Recently, an advertiser on HK91.com posted an ad with a FAD Kit for sale. I took the plunge, threw my money at him and this is what I received. |
I received this pic from DANO before the parts arrived and was anxious to compare the actual items to the photo. I was NOT dissapointed!! |
The following images are my own and were taken of the actual materials I received in my order
Here is an image of the "backside" of the components. This view gives the buyer a pretty good idea of the machining that goes into the production of the kit. |

I think this is an EXCELLENT product! All the parts are finely finished, have crisp lines and the fit between
parts is excellent. All the necessary pins and spring are included.
Good, quality parts; Cordial and prompt service and replies to emails; and a fair price made this a VERY GOOD transaction!! As stated above, this unit must be hand fitted to each gun and should only be attempted by someone either experienced with these Rifles, or a VERY Quick "Study". The housing should be TIG welded and the welder needs a very "deep" understanding of the function of this device to properly align it with the receiver. Misalignment will, of course, reduce or even elliminate the effectiveness of the device and could even cause the weapon to be NON-FUNCTIONAL. It would be a real shame to screw this up, especially considering the financial resources usually required in producing this type firearm. My experience with the seller went this way:
I placed the order on 02/25/02. On 03/06/02, I was informed the Housing was nearly ready to ship. On 03/25/02, I was notified, by email, that they would be shipped that day, BUT that the plunger components were running a bit late. Dano said he wanted to get the housing in my hands, so it would ship NOW, and the plunger set would be soon forthcoming. The Housing was received on 04/04/02.
Price of the Complete Kit: $315.00.
The seller can be contacted by phone at 510-453-6509
