It took a while, but the barreled upper with US parts set finally arrived. I "slapped" most of the components together and took the rifle out to test it for FUNCTIONALITY. No accuracy test have been made at this time. I wanted to make sure the rifle would shoot reliably in it's current incarnation before I got into making the more serious "improvements" needed.

Well..... the gun shot FLAWLESSLY!!! I was amazed. It is rare that I have a project that comes together (at this point) so easily. It usually takes a good bit of "tinkering" and problem solving at this juncture.
I "blasted" 100 rounds thru the gun with NOT ONE JAM, FTE, FTF, etc.!!!

The only disappointing experience I have had is the LONG WAIT for parts to arrive. In the end, though, that means little "RIGHT NOW", and I live and am concerned pretty much with ONLY RIGHT NOW and TOMORROW.

Still left to do:
1) Weld in Receiver Rails.
2) Weld in Forward Assist Device.
3) Modify Forearm to accommodate the front sight.
4) Refinish by Stealth Coat.
5) Attach 1200 Meter Sight.
6) Attach Tac-Latch Paddle Mag Release.
7) Build and attach Ambi Selector

8) Attach Trigger Shoe

Here is a quick profile shot. The gun looks sorta "bare" for an HK Sniper clone without the optics.
Note the muzzle profile... looks pretty cool.

Well, Well!
A "real" MSG90 gripframe... nice!
The trigger is a William's Contoured Trigger. VERY crisp!!
No markings on the receiver.... yet.
A trigger shoe will soon be added.

Side shot. Note that the forearm needs a slight mod to accommodate the front sight. A small "notch will have to be made to release the deflection caused by the sight base.
Note how the cocking tube sorta "bends" upward. This will disappear when the mod is made.
The Cocking Handle is US Made, of course.
The muzzle is a sleeved Flash Hider (pinned and welded, of course).

The rear sight will be replaced with a 1200 Meter Sight. Optics will be added later after a determination is made as to HOW I will establish an Optic Mounting System.
I have a B&T Mount setup ready to attach, but am considering the ACTUAL MSG90 setup OR simply welding a weaver rail ala Springfield Armory's SAR-8 HBCS
Up to THIS POINT, I am VERY pleased with the project. The functionality factor REALLY has got me charged up again about this. The biggest strain with this type of undertaking is the TIME involved. It is a LONG, HARD journey looking for parts and most vendors are so busy, they take nearly forever to complete most work. I COULD have simply sent this out to one of the "premium" builders and waited this long (or longer), then simply open a box from UPS one day to find my finished rifle.

The COST would have been about the same, as well as the wait. The only real difference would be that I would NOT know anything about HOW the weapon was built and would be a lot more ignorant when it came time for me to perform some sort of work on the gun.

I prefer to be as independent as possible with most of my hobbies. I wish I had the tools to barrel the receiver, but the barreled upper deal  (FMP receiver and DOUGLAS barrel) from SW was just too good to pass up.

If I WERE to do this all over again, I WOULD "farm out" the complete project, since my education HAS now been had.
