The "Doc Rak" Sight Rail for the HK SL8-1
If you are considering a new sight rail for
your SL8,
you really should to take a close look at
this one.
This rail is made by "Doc Rak", familiar to most folks on the HKPRO message boards.
| The rail sets back a bit further than the standard polymer rail offered
by HK. This will be of particular interest to owners of the Special Weapons
Conversion. This gives you a bit more flexibility in acquiring a proper
position of your scope to obtain the most comfortable position relative
to your optic's Eye Relief.

The scope pictured on the short rail is a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40mm Long Range M3 Illuminated Reticle. We used ultra low 30mm ring to mount this scope. |

| The rail is made out 6061 aluminum and has a true hard coat(class 3)
anodized finish. Each rail weighs just over half a pound. The
rail is a Picatinny style made to MIL-STD-1913. It is also compatible with
the Weaver style mounting system. There is also an extra 1/4 inch of clearance
above the receiver, which makes operation the action much easier. Each
rail is guarantied to fit on any HK SL8 or G36 type rifle. All rails are
sandblasted before anodizing which gives the rails an easy to maintain
consistent and clean finish.
The rails were designed using Pro Engineer. We can send the 3D CAD data right into our CAM software and straight into a CNC machine, which allows us to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistency while manufacturing the rails. Using a 3D solid modeling software to design the rails gives us the flexibility to customize the design to any customers specifications. There are three models of rails available: Short- The mounting rail on top center of the rail is only 5 inches long. This allows the eyepiece and objective to be mounted lower on the rail. This rail is designed specifically for a tactical scope 40mm to 50mm objective diameter. Standard - The rail is recessed on top to allow a scope to mounted closer to the centerline of the gun. This rail is designed specifically for with tactical scope a 50mm or larger objective diameter. Long – The Picatinny rail is continuous across the entire length of the rail. While testing we found that our rails are so strong and sturdy that can easily be used as a carry handle. We also found that the rails can be quickly swapped for the HK 3X / red-dot optical carry handle. The exchange takes a couple minutes and it only takes about three shots to sight the remounted optics. The rails are $205.00 including shipping to anywhere in Canada or the US. Doc Rak
