Step 1
Remove the pin above the trigger.
Step 2
Push down on the top of the index plate and rotate the safety lever counter-clockwise past the “safe” position.
Step 3
Pull off the right side of the safety lever
Step 4
Pull out the left side of the safety lever. You need to lift up the locking lever a bit as you do it.
Step 5
Lift out the large triangular piece. HK missed the name of this in their parts list. I believe it’s the disconnector.
Step 6
Press down and to the left on the index plate. When it clears the notched disk on the right it will come out. It’s got a pretty good spring under it so don’t let it fly off.
Step 7
Slide the notched disk to the left and pull it out.
Step 8
Push out the actuator pin. It’s the front most pin in the trigger unit.
Step 9
Push out the pin holding the hammer in place. The hammer and hammer springs will now come out.
Step 10
Push the trigger pin half way out. That will allow you to remove the sear and sear spring.
Step 11
Push the trigger pin completely out and remove the trigger, trigger spring and bolt catch spring. If the locking lever is still in place you’ll have to lift it up to get the trigger out.
Step 12
Slide the right elbow spring to the right so it no longer rests on the locking lever. This will reduce much of the tension on the locking lever.
Step 13
Push the recessed pin half way out to the right. This will allow you to remove the locking lever and the left elbow spring.
Step 14
Pull the recessed pin all the way out, releasing the right elbow spring. That’s it! You can also remove the white recoil buffer by pulling it straight out with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Reassembly
Reassembly is following the same steps in reverse order. One suggestion is to put the trigger back in before the locking lever. Then you won’t have to push the locking lever out of the way while working on the trigger.

Getting the elbow springs back on is a bit of a chore. The easiest way I found is to get the right one back on the recessed pin and hold the left one in place with a punch. Then insert the locking lever and push the pin through. Make sure you move the right elbow spring all the way to the left so it rests on the locking lever in its original position.

"I disassembled and reassembled my trigger group in about half a hour using the tutorial posted by dgaboury. It worked great! Thanks for posting that man, I can disassemble it with my eyes closed now!

Just a bit of advice, the hardest part for me was probably reattaching the safety mechanism.. The triangle shaped piece wouldnt allow the right side of the selector switch to be pushed in all the way. All it takes is some fiddling with that piece and the lever will slide all the way through like it should. It worked best for me to assemble the safety mechanism apart from the gun, to get an idea for how everything fit together."
