ALPINETEK's
Review of the
ADCO Square Shooter2
RED Dot Sight

(Click each image for a larger pic)

It looks "cool" on the TALON.
It functions as well as it looks, too.

I REALLY like the looks of this sight.
To me, it really "cleans up" the profile.

The mount is reversible for 3/8" or 7/8" mounting systems. Here, you can see the recessed windage adjustment in the rear sight "V".

Brightness control is easily read and control is conviently placed on top/center of the unit.

a BIG 1" sight picture makes target acquisition quick to reacquire.
You can also see the "iron" front site post from this angle.

The battery compartment is conveniently enclosed inside the 11 point brightness control for the TINY (4MOA )dot.

THE GOOD NEWS!

Target acquisition is immediate and quick to reacquire. The unit is lightweight but RUGGED!. The profile is small, and fits the contours of the TALON.

There is PLENTY of sight picture. Like all reflex sights, you can use BOTH eyes.  The sight looks and functions similarly to the famous C- More sighting system used on Firearms.

FRONT and REAR "Iron" sights  are integrated into the unit (in case you experience a battery failure). After sighting in, I was pleasently surprised to discover that they lined up perfectly with the dot (when a proper cheekweld is acquired).

The "dot" is 4MOA.. GREAT!! This makes target shooting so much more fun. Most air rifle or paintball red dot's have a gigantic "fuzzy" dot.. Not the SS2! The dot is TINY and WELL DEFINED! It has 11 brightness settings for ANY light conditions.

The mounting system allows you to attach it to 3/8” or 7/8” rails (VERY cool)!

The Elevation and Windage adjustments are done via the same Allen Wrench that allows you to mount the sight. The wrench is, of course, included with the sight. I like that the adjustment screws are recessed and difficult to accidentally alter

I love reflex sights and I HIGHLY enjoy this particular one and recommend it for the TALON!! It is ESPECIALLY hard to beat at a price of about $80.00 Delivered.

THE BAD NEWS!

Unfortunately, the only source I have been able to find the sight online is the  BBGun Superstore. My experience with them was EXTREMELY POOR. So poor that I prefer NOT to provide a link to them (but I did anyway).

Here are the details:

I placed my order on a Monday and expected it to ship within 24-48 hours. They are "one UPS day" from me, so I expected to receive it by Friday (at the latest).

When it did not arrive on Friday, I called. Apparently, they misplaced the order.. the lady on the phone said, "hmmm...  it's not in our system.. let me check something". A few minutes later, she comes back and says, "I found your order. When it was placed we were out of stock, and you're order got put aside by mistake... but it WILL ship “today”. Ok, I say... I should have it by Monday or Tuesday, then.. that's cool.. everybody makes mistakes".

When it did not arrive the following Tuesday, I called again.. I got, “we can’t find your order.. I’ll be right back… (several minutes later)… “It is being shipped from a remote warehouse.. TODAY (huh???) I will email you a tracking number" (I never received it).

On Thursday (of the second week), I called AGAIN asking for a tracking number. AGAIN... they had to "look" for my order. I don't think these people treat Internet orders with much priority.. amazing since I know of so many companies who have just about shut down their "walk in" business to handle the orders they receive online. I was informed (again) it HAD shipped and a tracking number will be emailed to me TODAY. I never recieved it.

When it did NOT arrive by Friday of the 2nd week , I called AGAIN the following Monday (beginning of third week)… “We do not have your order in our system.. hold on.. Ok.. found it.. It shipped from a remote warehouse, I will email you a tracking number.”  When I get home that day.. I find the UPS package from them and when I check my email, I FINALLY get the tracking number showing it was delivered that day... Geez.

If you have the patience and the willingness to BEG for an item you purchase, then give them a try.. I hope your experience is better than mine. You MAY wish to reference this page and tell them you would like a BETTER experience than the OTHER guy (who sent them your business).

I doubt I will ever buy from them again. It is just NOT worth the hassle. I will find the product elsewhere. I hope some of the "real" Internet vendors discover this gem and include it in THEIR offerings.

When I expressed how amazed I was at the trouble I was incurring in simply receiving this product, the lady agreed, yes, I see that.. it IS hard to believe. NO ONE apologized or seemed to care that a customer was getting "jerked around".

Good luck,
KB
